VOTE: Who's the Best Bronzed Celebrity?
There really should be an award. A gilded statue covered in, oh I don't know, diamonds, yeah big blinding diamonds. It should be presented by hot men, no, hot shirtless men, to all the women capable of mastering the seemingly impossible beauty tasks -- things like achieving anatural-looking faux glow, perfecting beachy waves, and being able to flawlessly apply false eyelashes.
Alright, so while I get these badass statues ready and roundup the shirt-deprived hotties, you get to work voting on which of these celebrity nominees has the best faux glow. Oh, and make sure to check out the expert self-tanner and bronzer tips along with them so you can garner yourself a nod next year …
For your consideration:
Heidi Klum
Expert Tip: Before you apply self-tanner, make sure you're waxed, shaved and exfoliated, says Cindy Barshop, owner of Completely Bare Spas. Using a scrub (try Sue Devitt Exfoliating Body Wash, $25) pre-tanning makes the color last longer and you won't want to shave or wax post-tanning or you risk splotches.
Jennifer Aniston
Expert Tip: Make streaks and goofs less noticeable on fresh-from-winter skin by applying a layer of gradual tan moisturizer (like Olay Total Effects Touch of Sun, $19) before your self-tanner, says celebrity makeup artist Meredith Baraf, who worked on the Victoria's Secret fashion show.
Jennifer Lopez
Expert Tip: Applying self-tanner on your back is a challenge, but you can do it yourself. "It's best to use a spray formula," says Baraf. Try Neutrogena MicroMist Tanning Sunless Spray, $10. Spray the air directly behind you in a circular motion and immediately walk backwards into the mist. Repeat the process until you get the coverage you want.
Victoria Beckham
Expert Tip: Fix drips, streaks or splotches immediately after applying self-tanner by blending out the mistake with a powder puff, recommends Baraf. Using your fingers can make streaking worse.
Kate Hudson
Expert Tip: Even fair-skinned gals can get a gorgeous bronzed look. If using self-tanner at home, the key, explains Barshop, is restraint. Apply two thin layers of self-tanner all over to prevent turning orange or looking unnaturally dark. If you opt for a salon spray tan, go to a location that offers a variety of shades and select the lightest. You can always add another layer.
Charlize Theron
Expert Tip: When applying self-tanner to your face, don't slather it on in one layer, says Glass -- it can look artificial. Instead, start on the apples of the cheeks, and blend the tanner up toward the outer corner of your eyes. Then blend it onto your forehead, nose and chin.
