Wedding Gowns for Your Body Type

How to dress your body type on your wedding day.

Picking out your wedding dress is a day most girls dream of, but let's be honest, it can be extremely stressful. With so many options out there it is easy to become overwhelmed. My advice? First and foremost, figure out what styles suit your body type best. This will ensure that you feel as fabulous as you are, while also narrowing down your search. And don't worry, I have good news for you soon-to-be brides….there's something for everybody!

The key is to accentuate the parts of your body you like the most and at the same time, hide the parts you dislike. To make things easy, I am breaking it down by body type and giving you a celebrity match.

Read on to find out what type of gown to wear if you're tall like Kate Middleton, petite like Reese Witherspoon, curvy like Kim Kardashian, or slender as Kristin Cavallari.

Tall- Kate Middleton:

As being tall demands presence, you make the perfect bride to carry a full, voluminous gown or one with lots of detail. Whether you choose a skirt with dramatic details in the form of bustles, drapery or tiers, or a simpler, more traditional full A-line like Kate Middleton, you can pull off a style that catches eyes when you make your appearance . I suggest pairing a full gown with a fitted top, or one with a deep V neckline as it creates a beautiful contrast with a full skirt, highlights your figure, and showcases your long neck and torso.

Petite- Reese Witherspoon:

Petite women tend to feel like there are fewer styles available out there - but that's far from the truth. Focus on dresses that will elongate your frame, for example, a high waistline makes your lower half appear longer. Be sure to stay away from anything too voluminous or "poofy" as you will get lost in the dress. Our favorite petite girl Reese Witherspoon's A-line dress with a corset lace bodice was a perfect example. She made sure to keep away from heavy detailing on the bottom half of her dress and choose a dress that leads the eye upwards towards the bodice, making her appear taller.

Curvy- Kim Kardashian:

When you think of curvy, you can't help but think of the newly engaged Kim Kardashian. Kim is never afraid to show off her curves and you shouldn't be either! If you embrace your shape, opt for a mermaid style dress, which will look most flattering on your curvy body and hug your silhouette in all the right places. If you decide to hide your curves a bit, an A-line dress that is tighter around the waist and floats out and above your curves is a great option. Be sure to avoid dresses with too many layers, as it will make your body appear heavy or wide.

Slender-Kristin Cavallari:

Our Southern California beauty Kristin Cavallari doesn't have the curves like Kim or the height of Kate, but she has many options depending on what parts of her body she wants to emphasize. We suggest she shows off her long neck and torso, toned shoulders and slender arms in a form fitting strapless gown.
