What your underwear color says about you

A new British poll conducted by psychologist Donna Dawson found that the color of your undergarments can tell a lot about a woman's personality, specifically what kind of lover she is. Dawson also found that 72% of women purchase nude or flesh toned lingerie, which she attributes to stars like Katy Perry wearing a basic nude set of undies on the cover of Rolling Stone and Calvin Klein underwear model Eva Mendes stating that she feels her sexiest in "either nude or very basic underwear." U.K. store Debenhams confirms that skin-colored underwear sales are up 38 percent this year.

Here are the color and personality breakdowns from the study:

Nude: "Relaxed, with nothing to hide. A nude or flesh-coloured bra denotes a personality that is natural, easy-going, down-to-earth and transparent."
Red: "Passionate, energetic and driven. This woman is not shy about asking for what she wants. Her moodiness and need for drama are also part of her allure."
Pink: "Romantic, gentle and in need of affection. She is feminine, sensuous and would never take the lead."
Black: "Powerful but sultry. This woman has subtle charms and is deeply passionate."
White: "Innocent, but open to suggestion. A woman who opts for a white bra is usually a willing learner."

While there may be some truth to Dawson's findings, we believe there's more that goes into bra selection. Yes, someone who wears red bras most of the time very well may be more passionate and energetic than someone who wears a white bra every day, but are people who wear white bras all "innocent"? And maybe the reason why 72% of women gravitate towards a nude bra isn't because they're "transparent" but because they're practical and don't want their bra to show through their shirt. We don't need a fancy poll to figure that out!

Another thing this study doesn't take into account: people who enjoy pretty underwear regardless of color. We like switching it up all the time. Black, white, nude, pink, leopard print--sometimes it's fun to wear different colors and patterns and not worry about if we're sending out the right message to people who are privileged enough to see us in them.
