White Graduation Dresses Under $100 That'll Satisfy Your School's Dress Code and Your Parents

by Elana Fishman

When I graduated from high school, our faculty required that every female student wear an all-white dress under her cap and gown. That meant no prints, no contrasting trims and no strapless or overly revealing styles. To this day, I'm not entirely sure what was behind this particular regulation-those poly-blend grad gowns pretty much had us covered from the neck and shoulders allll the way down, after all.

Anyway, as a result of this requirement, no fewer than three girls turned up in the exact same dress on the big day (and I graduated in a class of only about 80 students, so that's saying something). But hey, that's what happens when you're working with restricted options! And since studies* show that white's one of the most common required hues for graduation attire, I've searched high and low to find 50 perfect graduation day options in that exact shade. They're also all under the $100 mark, which should leave you with a bit of pocket money for post-commencement partying. The best part? I virtually guarantee you won't show up in the same dress as your friends (or worse, as your academic arch nemesis-c'mon, we all have one).

* By "studies," I mean an extremely informal poll I conducted amongst friends.
