Who's Your Current Style Icon?

I go through phases, stylewise, when I am so in love with and inspired by a real-life woman or a character in a movie that I feel almost paralyzed by my obsession. During these times, I can spend literally hours pausing the TV screen on particular scenes or scrutinizing photos of the person and trying to cull tips from her look. The icons I've been most drawn to are varied-a short list would include Molly Ringwald in The Breakfast Club, a young Marianne Faithfull, Catherine Deneuve, Faye Dunaway in Network, and recently, Julie Delpy in 2 Days in Paris and Parker Posey in Broken English (if you haven't seen these last two films, you must, you must). However, the other night, I rewatched Lost in Translation. And I wanted everything that Scarlett Johansson had on: the lightweight tees, perfect flats, button-downs , toggle coat , red purse, simple asymmetrical top , and the most ideal gray skirt. Her look (or should we say, really, Sofia Coppola's look, since everyone says the character is based on her) in that movie is so streamlined and meticulous yet also feels relaxed and utterly natural. These are the kinds of pieces you would wear for years and years. I am in love. She's even the reason I wanted to dye my hair red. Okay. Your turn.
