Would You Buy a Jersey Shore Perfume?

By Sarah Wexler, Allure magazine

I totally get the appeal of smelling like a certain celebrity. Maybe you're a fan of her music (Fergie, Rihanna), her bubbly personality (Jessica Simpson), her personal style (Gwen Stefani) or her overall fierceness (Jennifer Lopez); maybe that's why all of these celebs fragrances sell so well. But what happens when you like the actual scent, but not the person who's behind it-would that be a dealbreaker?

I'm asking because the Jersey Shore's Sammi "Sweetheart" Giancola is set to release a fragrance this spring, called Dangerous. The company's press says it will have notes of mandarin oranges, jasmine, honeysuckle, vanilla, and brown sugar-a pretty appealing mix. But I can't help wondering if I could ever divorce it from its spokeswoman in my mind.

Though the black-and-white ads try as hard as they can to make Sammi look classy, it's hard to alter my mental image of her. After all, she spends most of her time at the club scowling, lying comatose in bed, or punching her boyfriend in the face. Oh, and her self-esteem is so low that when he treats her horribly (cheating, lying, yelling, breaking her glasses), she repeatedly takes him back.

I wouldn't want a cent of my $21 fragrance purchase to go to Sammi, so I wouldn't buy the fragrance even if I liked it-would you?
