Would You Ever Attempt Self-Surgery?

We've always admired a woman who can perform her own oil change or switch out the washer in a leaky faucet. But it's a different story when someone thinks she's qualified to give herself a facelift. A California woman now has to undergo multiple bouts of corrective work (from a pro) to fix her own bungled at-home lip and cheek injections; worse yet, her doctor says she represents an ominous increase in such citizen-surgeons. Blame the economy. The real irony is that most of these cases end up costing the poor screw-it-yourselfer more than she would have paid to get the procedure done right the first time.

Rather than botching a DIY facelift and becoming a living Frankenstein, check out the Botox of tomorrow: five cutting-edge skin treatments.
