Answers to the Annoying "Why Does My Blemish Keeping Coming Back?" Skincare Riddle

I'm not particularly acne-prone, but in the past few weeks, I've had two icky blackheads pop up in the same spot. Three. Times. In. The. Same. Exact. Place. Ugh! Just when I think the coast is clear, a couple days later they're back to taking residence on my face again (these pesky things should seriously start paying rent). So, what gives?!

I enlisted the help of skin guru NYC dermatologist Dr. Susan Binder, who helped point out some sneaky reasons as to why these buggers keeping coming back. Read on to see if there's a solution for your facial war zone area:

Acne around the hairline?
It could be from overusing hair products and not cleaning it away thoroughly enough at the end of the day.

Pimples on the chin?
It might be the result of touching the area with your hand or resting your chin on a phone (I plead guilty two-fold on this one! I'm a total hold-up-the-phone-with-my-chin-while-typing-an-e-mail type of girl.)

A blemish only on one side of the face?
That one could even be from sleeping on one side (I am a devout side-sleeper) or again preferentially touching that side.

For the most mountain-sized blemishes, Dr. Binder recommended that you could go to your derm and have him or her inject a cortisone solution to help shrink it. I've never heard of before, but apparently our beauty writer, Petra, was way ahead of the game on that one.

Even though these tips will help for future blemish woes, I still have this itty bitty problem about the ones that are still on my face right now. I've played around with a couple spot treatments without much luck, and this is a beauty area that's sort of new territory for me.

Therefore, loyal readers, I need your help! What are the best acne/spot treatment products that you think are miracle workers? Do you swear by any at-home remedies for treating these suckers? And let's compare horror stories, what's the worst place you've ever gotten a zit?
