We take our Terms of Service seriously so please read and follow them.

Respect the community

Our goal on Shine is to foster smart, intelligent discussion on topics that matter to women. We are a place where women, and friends of women, can read, laugh, and share information respectfully. Join the conversation and see what we re talking about!

Your use of Yahoo! Shine is subject to the Shine Community Guidelines, Yahoo! Community Guidelines, and the Yahoo! Terms of Service. Because of the mature themes discussed here, Shine is not an appropriate place for teens or children.

What To Do:

  • Share your stories

    Help each other stay on top of important information and useful and funny stories. Talk openly about the variety of issues that matter to women. Offer support by sharing personal stories, journeys, lessons, and jokes!

  • Be Courteous

    Speak your mind, but be polite and respectful when interacting with others.

  • Be responsible for your content

    Check posts and comments for grammar and punctuation. Practice neatness through accurate tagging and keeping titles concise.

    Remember, you have the power to remove your blog. You can also remove images and video from your blog. Comments however, are not removable, so be thoughtful and considerate when commenting.

  • Keep Shine channels relevant

    Carefully select the category you are posting to. Make sure your post is relevant to that topic so it can be featured by our Shine editors.

  • Have fun and be creative

    Post content about other category topics, stories you want to share, photos, and video to Only My Blog. Be creative! Your post still may be featured by our community manager or editors.

  • Be a good citizen

    Report any abusive activity by clicking on the Report Abuse link next to the post or comment. Were committed in keeping Shine abuse-free, but we rely on your help to make a difference.

What Not To Do:

  • Dont let your Yahoo! account get terminated

    Youre at risk for having your account terminated if you violate our terms of service or any of our community guidelines.

  • Dont post anything that isnt rightfully yours

    We don t want you to upload anything that is not yours unless you have permission, license, or have proper attribution. If you do, we will take appropriate action and terminate your account.

  • Dont take your aggressions out on other members

    Dont yell by typing in all caps. Dont harass, abuse, impersonate, or intimidate others. We will remove your post or comment and send a warning or terminate your account.

  • Dont spam or use Shine for solicitations or advertisements

    Shine is for personal use only. If we find you selling products, services, or yourself through your blog, we will remove your post and terminate your account.

  • Dont post any nude photos or inappropriate images

    We dont allow the posting of pictures or video that contain nudity or images that wouldnt be suitable to show your great aunt, uncle, niece or nephew. We will take appropriate action and terminate your account.

  • Dont be a multiple poster

    We will remove duplicate posts. However, spamming across Shine will not be tolerated and we will terminate your account.

If you see your photographs or posts in another members blog, dont panic. This is probably just a misunderstanding and not malicious. Email us at and we will ask them to remove it. If that doesnt work, please file a Notice of Infringement with the Yahoo! Copyright Team who will take it from there.

Other things to keep in mind

Shine is an English-speaking website. Help us keep the conversation flowing by posting and commenting in English.

You will read all sorts of things on Shine, some of which you may disagree with or may even offend you. If you are offended by a post you can either click away from it or if you think it violates our terms of service and is abusive, you can click the Report Abuse link.

We reserve the right to move your post to another category that would be most relevant to the post.

Shine reserves the right to remove any post in it’s own discretion.

Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to blog or comment on Shine.
