Fix Your Bad Hair Day in Three Minutes

We've all stood in front of a mirror, horrified at the mop of hair staring back at us. This could take place 15 minutes before you have to run out the door or even be one of those days where you have plenty of time, but your hair refuses to cooperate.

No matter the situation -- and no matter how unruly your mane -- know that it is possible to walk away from the mirror with hair that's worthy of compliments.

Detailed below are three easy hairstyles to try. The best part? They can all be created in under three minutes each, giving you ample time to make up that pretty face of yours and leave the house without feeling flustered or pressed for time.

Dressed Up Pony
When you're really in a pickle, resort to the basics: a ponytail. If you want to make an impact, though, refrain from sweeping hair up into your standard pony. Instead, dress it up a little bit.

To begin, apply a dime-sized amount of hair serum to your fingers and massage through your hair from root to tip. Try L'Oreal's Frizz Taming serum from the new L'Oreal Advanced Haircare line. It tames unruly frizz, polishes the shaft and makes hair ultra shiny. Next, use a bristle boar brush to gather hair into a high pony tail. Take a very small section of hair from the ponytail and braid it. Next, wrap the braided section around the elastic (this hides it) and secure with two criss-crossed bobby pins. Curl the ends of your pony tail for a slightly more polished look and you're ready to go.

Sock Bun
Whether your hair is ultra fine, super curly or somewhere in between, the sock bun is a must-try. It's the kind of hairstyle that makes people turn their heads to look at yours.

Start by cutting the toe portion off of a tube sock. Roll the sock into itself until it looks like a donut. Place hair into a high ponytail. You can do this methodically so hair is smooth (as pictured) or do it carefree for a messy-chic vibe. Place the sock over the tip of your ponytail and begin rolling it down. As you do this, your hair should wrap around the sock. Continue until the sock reaches the bottom of the ponytail.

Side Fishtail Braid
Channel your inner mermaid with a side fishtail braid. You can dress this up with hair accessories or leave it as is.

First, pull your hair into a side ponytail and secure with a clear, plastic elastic (you'll remove this later with scissors). Next, create a fishtail braid. To do this, separate hair into two equal sections. Pull a small section from the left side over the the right side, then a small section from the right over to the left. Repeat until you reach the bottom and secure with another elastic. Cut the top elastic, fluff your hair and walk out the door a happy, confident woman.
