In the wake of the Boston Marathon bombings, it can be tough, if not impossible, to see the bright side of life. Here are 12 reasons the world can be good.

Because people who ran the marathon and people who didn't all rushed to help victims.

Because kittens think teacups are beds.

Because comfort food exists for a reason.

Because as noisy as social media is, clarity and solace can be found there.

Because most people's Facebook feeds look like this:

Because this baby was recently born at Gladys Porter Zoo, rounding out three generations of Sumatran orangutans.

Because this Mr. Rogers quote went viral: "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping."

Because after running the marathon, runners ran to the hospital to donate blood.

Because somewhere right now, there are kids doing this.

Because no one cares about Internet privacy and personal safety right now.

Because people like Shane Burcaw, 20, who suffers from spinal muscular atrophy, blogs at a site called "Laughing at My Nightmare" and has perspective on life.

Because you can run the 2014 Boston marathon. Because people are resilient.
