5 Remedies for an Upset Stomach

Do you have a remedy for when you overeat? Last night at dinner I overindulged. I had roast suckling pig, along with a bite of linguini with clam sauce, fried artichokes, and roast chicken. All delicious, but I might as well have been the roast suckling pig. The last time I had suckling pig was on Christmas four years ago when the clock struck midnight; and it was only because my father thought it was a good idea. I overindulged then and vowed never to do it again. I didn't mean for history to repeat itself. I figured I would be okay last night since we were eating at a far more reasonable hour. I stand corrected. Dinner was so filling that I walked home. But even that didn't really help. Over the years I've picked up a few tricks that tend to make me feel better and ease my Santa Claus-like belly. They all require ingesting something more, but they work almost all the time:

1. Eat some ripe papaya

2. Drink some bitters mixed with seltzer

3. Drink fennel seed tea

4. Eat a cinnamon disk candy or black licorice hard candy

5. Drink a glass of wine or an espresso
