7 Easter Treats You Might Want to Skip

Did you know that Easter is typically the second-biggest holiday for candy sales? Yup, only Halloween sends more of us to the dentist with cavities! Before you tear into the Easter basket Mom made you (and we know she still does), consider this: Some of those pastel treats have enough calories, fat and sugar to last you until Halloween. So avoid these seven sweets -- or at least consume them in moderation.

Cadbury Creme Egg

These cream-filled chocolate eggs are also filled with 150 calories, 6 grams of fat and 20 grams of sugar, which isn't something to balk, balk, balk about. Just stick to one if these are your favorite.

Jelly Belly Jelly Beans (assorted)

In terms of calories, these colorful candies are on the lower end (especially compared with some of those chocolate eggs and bunnies), if you don't pound handfuls of them every time your mother-in-law asks for grandkids. But in terms of sugar, these guys are off the charts -- just 35 beans (about the size of a big handful) pack a whopping 28 grams, or 7 teaspoons of sugar. Yikes!

Brach's Chicks & Rabbits

Okay, so these mini marshmallow animals are fat-free and contain just 150 calories per serving. But before you go to town, read that label a little closer: One serving is just five tiny pieces, and believe it or not, they somehow manage to pack 25 grams of sugar in those five candies. So a few servings or (gasp!) an entire bag of these little guys, and you may need to see your dentist on Monday.

Cadbury Mini Creme Egg

Hate to break it to you, but the mini versions of Cadbury's iconic eggs aren't so mini when it comes to calories and sugar. One serving, or four mini eggs, contains more sugar and calories than a regular-size Cadbury Creme Egg.

Palmer Cottontail Hollow Milk Chocolate Rabbit

Don't let the hollowness fool you -- the shell alone of this whole bunny packs a whopping 510 calories, 57 grams of sugar and 30 grams of fat, no joke! Sorry folks, but unless you want to wear that bunny on your booty, it's best to just hop away from this one.

M&M's Solid Bunny

Chocolate bunnies may be cute, but there's nothing cute about their calorie (or sugar or fat) count either. Case in point: M&M's jumbo bunny -- or should we say, rabbit -- which packs 760 calories, 40 grams of fat and a shocking 84(!) grams of sugar. You're better off skipping this one and munching on a handful of regular M&M's instead.

Reese's Reester Bunny

That Reester is one twicky rabbit. He may look all innocent, but he's really a calorie, sugar and fat bomb. Polish him off and you'll pack on 760 calories, 40 grams of fat and 72 grams of sugar, making him our runner-up for worst Easter candy. Our advice: Save the Reester for the little ones, and opt for regular old Reese's Peanut Butter Cups instead.
