The series airs daily at 5 p.m. EST and features three cooking experts who use savvy cooking techniques to make indulgent dishes that will satisfy your appetite and conscience.

In an interview with co-host Allison Fishman, we learn more about how the threesome has adapted the popular British series to suit its American audience. In the show you'll learn how to swap calorie-heavy ingredients for leaner and healthier additions. For instance, learn how to turn a traditional 1,300 calorie steak and potato dinner into a less than 400 calorie meal, or you'll learn how to skim 400 calories off of a muffin.

Allison Fishman shared with us the three ingredients she says every kitchen ought to have if you're going to stay fit.

Number one is to avoid drinking your calories. Right now, I have three huge bottles of unsweetened sun tea sitting on the windowsill of my kitchen. I also always keep seltzer water on hand and drink plenty of brewed tea during the winter. Second, stock your refrigerator with fruits and vegetables and clean out your pantry of snack foods. Right now is the season where fresh produce is in abundance. Stock up on blueberries, pineapples, peaches and whatever is fresh and in season. Third, don't be afraid of following recipes. The dishes that we prepare on Cook Yourself Thin are healthy and simple. And all of the recipes can be found on mylifetime.com.
