Researchers found that women who have breast cancer and artificial bosoms were more often diagnosed at a later stage than women without implants. (As we know, early detection is key when it comes to fighting breast cancer.)

After scientists looked at information from 12 previous studies, they saw that 26 percent of women with implants were diagnosed at a later stage of breast cancer than women without them (which, they do admit, could be totally by chance). However, they think that this late detection may happen because it's more difficult to really get a good look at a woman's breast tissue during a mammogram when she has implants in. Considering that some women who survive breast cancer have reconstructive survey, during which artificial breasts are inserted, this could mean that a resurgence of cancer might be harder to spot as well.
