Calories in summer festival food

I've never understood the fascination with frying random food. I don't mean traditional grub like French fries, onion rings, even cheese. I'm talking about the deep-frying of candy bars, spaghetti and meatballs, and apparently now… Kool-Aid. Yes, really.

Since summer festivals and carnivals are popping up all over right now, it made me wonder how many calories are in some of the typical fair fare… the fried stuff and a few others. Here's a quick look:

Fried Twinkie (2 oz.): 420 calories/34g fat

Fried Snickers (5 oz.): 445 calories/29g fat

Giant turkey leg (1 lb, 3 oz): 1,136 calories/54g fat

Funnel cake (1): 760 calories/44g fat

Cheesecake on a stick (6 oz.): 655 calories/47g fat

Cream puff (4.3 oz): 500 calories/43g fat

Jumbo corn dog (6 oz): 375 calories/21g fat

Do you splurge at festivals? Or stay away from the food? I went to one this weekend and had a salad… and a small soft serve ice cream. :)
