Did Prince Harry Almost Die in the Arctic?

Prince Harry

We have had only positive feelings about Prince Harry's month-long Antarctic trek as it was the impetus for the Majestic Beard that single-handedly helped us get through the cold winter. (Oh, and it also brought about this nude Alexander Skarsgard picture-seriously, who would have thought a journey to the South Pole would provide so many desktop background options?)

The trip did not go exactly as planned, as the competition aspect of the expedition was cancelled midway through due to inclement weather. And now, in an advance clip of an ITV documentary set to air Sunday night, it appears Prince Harry had a quite serious bout of altitude sickness during the trek. Yes, while he may have looked like a red-haired Jon Snow in the pictures and video clips we were privy to back in November, this footage paints a very different picture. Harry is seen groaning, in visible pain due to a headache, telling a medic, "It feels as though it's expanding. It's getting worse and worse." He had to rest for 36 hours as he waited for his symptoms to improve.

"Antarctica jumped up and bit me on the ass," Harry reflected. He went on to assess: "If you show a weakness to Antarctica, I think it exploits it. And I think it will slowly grind you down until you have the utmost respect for it, which I now have." (He sounds almost Shailene Woodley-esque in his attitude toward nature here, no?)

"Harry!!!!! WTF!!?" Cressida doubtlessly just texted Harry.

"U never told me u got so sick!!!!!!!!"

Harry: "sorry babe, i dint want u to worry"
