Do Your Friends Make You Feel Better or Worse About Your Body?

By Lexi Petronis, Glamour magazine

Whenever I think about the power of peers (eek, that sounded way more after-school special than I meant it to), I always go back to this fact: When families move to another country, kids tend to adopt the accent or language of that country (instead of their parents'). It's testament that our friends' actions help shape who we are and how we fit in the world. So what about when it comes to your body image?

Specifically: do your friends make you feel better or worse about your body? It's sort of a complex question, because there are a lot of different ways friends can influence how you see your own body. Maybe their influence isn't purposeful or overt (hopefully, no one here is getting Mean Girls-y comments from their friends!). It could be in the way they see their own bodies that changes the way we see our own.

How do your friends impact the way you think about your body? Do they help you feel good about your body? Or do they make you feel bad about it?
