You may have seen Thompson in 2006's thriller When A Stranger Calls, or in one of her guest roles on Grey's Anatomy or Private Practice, but she has her first starring role this January in Tyler Perry's For Colored Girls.

She'll be sharing the screen with Hollywood heavyweights including Thandie Newton, Whoopi Goldberg, Loretta Devine and Janet Jackson. To keep up with these leading ladies, Thompson says, "I snack (or graze, really) throughout the morning into the afternoon. I eat almonds professionally, and I can't get enough of Yerbe Mate Cranberry Synergy Kombucha!"

Thompson's breakfast is packed with healthy foods. Almonds ward off stress, and a grapefruit a day may stave off heart disease. A study in the Journal of Agriculture and Food Chemistry reveals that antioxidant-rich red grapefruit is most effective at lowering levels of triglycerides, a type of fat associated with heart problems.

Kombucha is also chock full of antioxidants, which also contribute to healthy skin and fight wrinkles, according to experts. While the fat content in avocado might be high, never fear: it's mostly the good for you kind. Moreover, it's that same fat that keeps you satiated, so you'll be less inclined to go overboard on other eats throughout the day.

What do you think of Tessa's breakfast choice? What are your go-to morning eats?
