Food Trucks Beat Out Restaurants in the Safety Department

In case you were a little squeamish about the safety of food trucks eats, we're giving you free reign to gobble up all the food-on-wheels you want.

A new report called Street Eats, Safe Eats from the Institute for Justice has deemed food trucks and carts "every bit as clean and safe" as old fashioned restaurants. In fact, when comparing the average health and safety violations per restaurant and mobile vendors in each city, the trucks scored lower than restaurants! Who would have guessed?? (But um, we're not going to delve into the details of restaurant health hazards right now.)

The study analyzed health department reviews in seven major U.S. cities: Boston, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Louisville, Miami, Seattle and Washington, D.C. These cities were specifically selected because the same health codes apply to both truck vendors and brick-and-mortar restos.
