This week's health food can really turn on the heat. From Italy to India, chili peppers have been spicy superstars in cultures around the globe for thousands of years, but flavor isn't all they add: Did you know that capsaicin, the compound that gives these peppers their kick, can actually boost your metabolism? But wait, there's more: Capsaicin is known to have anti-inflammatory properties, help soothe sinus issues and possibly help with headaches, too. Give your taste buds a wake-up call with these four fabulous chili pepper recipes.

Roasted Pineapple and Pepper Salsa:
Take a quick trip to the tropics with this sweet and spicy homemade salsa from Food Network's Guy Fieri. The heat from the chilies, red pepper and jalapeno pair perfectly with the sweetness from the fresh mango and pineapple. Dig in with baked tortilla chips or serve it up on grilled fish tacos. Your taste buds will thank you!

Turkey Chipotle Chili:
Winter isn't over justtttt yet, so if you're anything like me, you're probably still craving a warm bowl of hearty chili. This delicious recipe has that zesty spice combination of chili powder and dried chipotle chili pepper perfect for an easy weeknight meal. For those who like it extra hot and spicy, add half a teaspoon of cayenne pepper.

Paprika and Red Pepper Soup with Pistachio Puree:
No one will guess that this deliciously thick and creamy soup is actually healthy -- and vegetarian friendly. The secret is the combination of vegetable broth, nonfat buttermilk and pistachio puree that's chock full of heart-healthy fats. The fresh Serrano chiles and red bell peppers take this soup over the top with flavor.

Shrimp with Garlic and Chili Pepper:
It doesn't get much easier than this fab recipe from Nigella Lawson of Food Network that'll be on the table in about ten minutes. Simply stir fry your shrimp in the garlic and chili pepper infused oil, add a splash of white wine and devour with a hunk of baguette or a simple salad.
