There's just nothing worse than finally getting a break from school and having to spend it sick on the couch, but the truth is it's really easy to pick up germs in transit. Luckily we have some awesome travel tips that'll give you a way better chance of avoiding the illnesses that often come along for the ride. Planes, trains, and automobiles all apply, so listen up!

Wipe down everything.
Your tray table, your arm rests, and basically anything around the area of your seat should be cleaned. Bring along some anti-bacterial wipes to do the job. These Giovanni ones are organic, individually wrapped (read: easy to pack), and smell incredible, so you won't get any angry stares from your seatmate.

Use hand sanitizer liberally.
There's no need to go crazy and sanitize your hands after touching anything around you, but it's a good idea to use it before eating or touching your face. Get into the holiday spirit with this one by Bath and Body Works-it smells like gingerbread!

Avoid fellow travelers who seem sick.
As gross as it sounds, germs travel. So if someone's cough hits you right in the face, you're in serious danger of picking up their cold. If they're not going to sneeze and cough into the crook of their arm (the best way to do it!), then you need to at least turn away from them as best as you can. It can be tricky in small spaces, but it's worth doing your part to avoid catching their germs. Just...ew.

Hydrate as much as you can.
Bring water with you and drink it the entire time you're traveling. Flights can be especially drying, and those tiny little airplane cups of H20 are more like a small sip than a serving size.

Give your pillow and blanket the once-over.
Many flights provide these cozy essentials, but if they're not sealed in plastic, you probably want to skip using them. Even though they're supposed to be swapped out for brand-new ones after every use, there's no guarantee that yours are clean unless you see them sealed.

Now travel safe, and here's to a healthy holiday season!
