How Do You Spend Your Free Time? Beware of Too Much of This

By Sarah Jio, Glamour magazine

After a long day at the office, you're finally home. Whew! How do you most often spend your precious downtime? Be honest! Researchers have an important warning for everyone...

After a long, stressful day, it's easy to want to do what the woman in the photo above is doing--chill out in the couch with the TV, your laptop (in your underwear, even!). But if you work at a desk and are mainly sedentary each day, that's a big no-no say researchers in London.

They found that people who came home from work and spent four or more hours of their spare time sitting in front of the computer or TV instead of doing active things, were 48 percent more likely to die earlier and 125 percent more likely to have heart problems than those who limited their sedentary leisure time to 2 hours per day and worked in some psychical activity in their downtime.

The important takeaway: Even if your day job is super stressful, you're not doing yourself any favors by being sedentary in the evenings. So get moving gals!

How do you spend your evening free time? Do you always cement your butt to the couch? Do you work in fitness too?

P.S. How flexible are you? Have you ever been able to do the splits? And, the flat-butt cure: The move every office worker should do.
