My husband is a mega golf fan, so we've been reeling from the news of Tiger Woods' alleged affairs--shocker! He seemed like such a wholesome family man! I'll tell you though, if I was Elin Nordgren, the first thing I'd do is head to my gynecologist for a full panel of STD testing. Would you do the same? Here's what the experts want you to know about this subject ...

It's been a little hard to keep up with all the news on Tiger and his alleged affairs. First one, then two, and now--wait--a third supposed mistress has reared her head. (Shallon had an update for us yesterday on that.) A bunch of my friends on Facebook have been buzzing about how sad it all is. Sigh.

But in all the hoopla, I can't help but think what a nightmare Tiger's wife, Elin Nordgren, is facing. It's a a blow to the ego and the heart, for sure. But let's not forget, with her husband's cheating, she's also facing a health issue. I'll tell you what: If I found out my husband had broken the trust of our marriage and cheated, I'd make a beeline to my gynecologist's office (yes, before I smacked him with a golf club, or maybe after), where I'd want every test for every disease--just to be certain. I mean, if he was stupid enough to cheat, he'd be stupid enough to have unprotected sex, right? In any case, the possibility is there.

That's the message that health experts have for you. I recently did some research for a story on WomansDay.com about the things a woman should always ask/tell her gynecologist, and issues of cheating topped the list. In short, if there's been any cheating going on in your relationship (yours or his), disclose it to your doc and get tested! A good doctor will not judge you, but instead give you the appropriate tests to be sure your health isn't in jeopardy. Remember, some STDs (or STIs, sexually transmitted infections as they are also referred to) can sometimes be symptomless (hello, HIV!).

Hugs to you Elin! We're rooting for you!

If you found yourself in a similar predicament, would your instinct be to be tested for STDs?
