Walter Thompson included "mindful living" on its 2014 list, suggesting that we could--wait for it--actually enjoy solitary, social-media-free peace of mind, pointing to the rise of digital detox retreats, the Slow Food Movement, and meditation apps.

Since the report also includes highly-modern concepts such as the end of anonymity, telepathic technology, and immersive experiences, company director of trendsetting Ann Mack acknowledges it's a mixed bag. "I think the real surprise is the fact that as we get more immersed in technology we're starting to question its siren call… We are still very much embracing it but resisting it simultaneously."
