Before the announcement that skier Lindsey Vonn would be sitting out of the Olympic games in Sochi, I caught up with the athlete on the set of her Proctor & Gamble photo shoot (she partnered up with their beauty brands CoverGirl, Olay, and Pantene as part of their Thank You Mom campaign). And she confessed three really surprising things to me about her skin (which looks fantastic in person, by the way). Here's what she spilled:

1) She's worked out an SPF routine that protects her enough that she doesn't have to reapply on the slopes. "I put [sunscreen] on in the morning and then foundation on top. And I usually use a foundation with SPF in it to double up." Her foundation of choice: CoverGirl Outlast Stay Fabulous 3-in-1 Foundation + Broad Spectrum SPF 20.

2) Her SPF number of choice is 20! "I usually go 20-I feel like if I go higher it clogs my pores and I feel like a 20 does as good a job as 70. But also when I'm out on the slopes I often have a necky on and that keeps my face more sheltered. But [even so] usually doubling up with the spf and foundation usually is a pretty solid layer of protection so that it lasts."

3) The way she holds off windburn? Good old petroleum jelly! "When the wind is a factor, I either wear a full-on face mask that covers everything or I just lube myself up with [petroleum jelly]. It feels terrible but it works!"
