Republicans Gone Wild!!!

This morning I read the paper; nothing new there. Then I got disgusted; the news was awful and confirms my belief that this election season Republicans have taken leave of their senses!

-The Chairman of the County Republicans wants to disband two militia groups in the area. The militias are sort of like a glorified Boy Scout group for adults; they help the sheriff's department with search and rescue, emergency evacuations, highway closures in bad weather, etc. The County Republicans are claiming they need to be disbanded because one of the Militia members might run for Sheriff against our current Republican Sheriff.

The current Sherriff happens to be a law-breaker. He was just tried and convicted of violating the terms of an agreement with another county agency and for misappropriating Sheriff's Department items and funds. He recently filed for bankruptcy because he was forced to repay the funds that he "accidentally" misappropriated into his own bank account.

So. . . Because they have such an upstanding current Republican Sheriff the County Republicans are asking the state to disband the Militia's on the basis that they might produce a candidate for Sheriff of their own this fall.

-My state is one of only a few that actually have a surplus in their budget. Rather than use that money to fix roads, bridges, schools, lower university tuition, make funds available to hire additional law enforcement officers/ fire fighters, or help to rehabilitate destroyed wildlife habitat, or invent in community development, they are sending $35.7 million back to the richest tax-payers in the state.

Those who find themselves in the top 17% of Idaho's wealthiest people are getting a huge tax cut.

You might say, "Well, your state can afford a tax cut for the rich because you have a surplus," but here is the kicker; they are cutting taxes so much that if our state's economy doesn't grow at a 7.8% rate, we will have a deficit next year and for all the years to come. Seeing as the nation's economy is growing at a paltry 1.9% rate there is no way little old Idaho is going to grow at a 7.8% rate. In fact, every economist that has reviewed the plan has said it's insane. They went on to say that we'd be lucky to see 4% growth, but even that is doubtful.

So . . .The Republicans have sent us tax cuts for the rich and deficits for the foreseeable future!

-An upstanding member of the community, good Christian, and staunch Republican has been arrested again; this time for violating his parole. The man was arrested before for using his company for forge checks. He was creating checks from other companies and individuals made out to his company in order to pad his own wallet. He served two years in prison and was supposed to be on parole for 7 years. He was arrested recently on suspicion of doing the same and his home searched.

Church groups and Republican community leaders are rallying to support the man stating that the police had no right to search his home in an effort to recover the falsified checks. Apparently they have forgotten that this man had no right to defraud business of their funds for his personal gain.

So . . . the Republicans support illegally taking money from others.

Page 4 -Iowa legislature makes it illegal for animal rights groups to use videos of factory farms engaging in abuse of animals as a means of preventing them from publicizing animal abuses in that state. Instead of requiring farms in their state to adhere to safe animal handling practices, the Republican legislature gave the Iowa operations the opportunity have anyone who captures animal abuse on camera jailed, go figure. . .

Page 4 -Republican lawmakers in Utah want to seize control of federal lands in that state; this, despite warnings from their own lawyers that the move is unconstitutional.

Page 4 --GOP on Family Values: A Republican Senator from Wisconsin proposes a bill stating that being in a single-parent a form of child abuse. First, women shouldn't have access to birth control, but when you become a parent because you don't have birth control you are automatically an abusive parent. Or if you divorce your husband because he's beating the h3ll out of you and the kids you're automatically an abusive parent.

Page 5 -Yeah-It's that Birth control thing again. Republicans say that allowing women to have access as to birth control is a violation of religious freedom. I wonder if this will backfire like the anti-immigration laws? The Anti-immigration laws passed a few years back and now farmers can't find enough workers to harvest the crops. If this gets passed how long will it be before all those Catholic Hospitals can't find enough nurses?

-Republican ratings about gay marriage are getting more than old, especially considering that they like to evoke the Christian Religion at the same time. Washington state just allowed gay marriages and Idaho wants to make sure they don't follow in Washington's footsteps because, apparently, it's a sin to love someone. The interesting thing is that it is said of Christians that you should know them by their love, but this election season you could say that, "You can't identify a Christian by their love, but by their lack their of."

Shakes head; wants to move to Canada.
