The study looked at 191 business students at two U.S. universities and found that they send around 109.5 text messages a day-a whopping 3,200 texts each month. Um...whoa. Students also check their phones around 60 times on a typical day, which amounts to seven hours overall. As for what would happen if students lost their devices, well, it would be "disastrous" to their social lives, the study's researchers found.

In fact, researchers go as far to say that our phones have become "status symbols" that can "erode our personal relationships." The solution? Make sure you're not compulsively checking your phone every three seconds, and maybe even leave it in your purse for a couple hours at time to take a break from all of that digital noise.
