Think of sweat as your body's AC. Even when you're camped on the couch, moisture evaporates from your skin to help cool you. Start exercising, and your body temp rises a few tenths of a degree above its normal 98.6, which makes your 2 million-plus sweat glands work harder and your skin begin to glow, says Bob Murray, Ph.D., an exercise physiologist in Crystal Lake, Illinois. Maintain a slow and steady pace, where sweat evaporates at about the same rate as you produce it, and you'll stay in that dewy sweet spot.
