You're doing all you can to eat right, but the latest news sheds light on something you may not know about: a certain type of food may be causing you to pack on more body fat. We already know that whole grains are more nutrient and fiber-packed, plus, consuming more whole grains has been linked with a reduced risk of diabetes (huge, given that new predictions show 1 and 3 Americans having the disease by 2050--yikes!), but now there's more to the whole grain story: Researchers say that whole grains may help you blast more body fat.

Scientists from the USDA examined the eating habits of those who consumed mostly whole grains, then looked at those who typically did not. They found that the whole-grain eaters had significantly less body fat than than the other group.

A little tip: When you're looking at the ingredient label on your bread, crackers, etc., be sure you see "whole" next to the type of grain. "Wheat flour" does not mean "whole wheat flour." A lot of people get confused by this!
