I don't mean to vilify cupcakes. I do love them, on occasion. But think about this next time you're reaching for a second chocolate cupcake: Experts say that too many sweets in your diet can lead to something a little unsettling: excess body and facial hair.

It may all be caused by insulin resistance, the hormone that controls blood sugar level, which can go haywire when you eat too much sugar. "The problem is that a raised insulin level may trigger growth factors which make the ovaries produce too much of the 'male' hormone testosterone, which can lead to excess hair," says nutritionist Marilyn Glenville.
