Would You Try Hollywood's Hottest Workout Trend?

By Victoria Land, Allure magazine

We've blogged about the Power Plate before, so you should already know that exercising on the vibrating machine for 20 minutes a couple of times a week can give workouts a mega-boost so you burn more body fat. No wonder celebs can't get enough-Mark Wahlberg used his to get in shape for The Fighter, Alanis Morissette is using hers to shed the baby weight, and Elle MacPherson and Renée Zellweger are fans.

Kelly Atterton, Allure's West Coast Editor, just got a sneak peek at latest version of the Power Plate-the My7-and reports that it's light years ahead of the older models and already has a huge cult-like following in L.A.

The updated machine has a monitor with programs built in so you know exactly how to train on the plate (earlier models didn't-I admit I was unsure of what I should actually be doing on the thing when I used it). It offers over 1,000 pre-programmed exercises and allows you to customize a workout to meet your own goals (there is even a program called "muffin top").

If you want to give it a shake, use the company's Vibration Location tool to find one near you.

Do you think this is just another hype job in the exercise world, or would you try it? (Wahlberg did look pretty fit in the The Fighter.)
