Monthly Career

Yes, it is a great idea to start out the first day of the New Year with a big, fat resolution to get your finances totally in order and to save more and maybe even to finally get that raise that you've been wanting for so long. Yeehaw! Now, instead of stopping at that resolution, why not get out that account book and start making sense of everything you earned and spent last year. By the time you're done (and it might take all day on the 2nd, as well), you'll have a much clearer understanding of where the heck all that money is going. This will only make you stronger and surer of what you need to do, or do better, this year! Your next big professional project on the 3rd and 4th is going to be learning to communicate. Why not take a workshop? You start moving and shaking things at the office on the 9th and 10th (figuratively, not literally, that is). You make things happen! Go with the flow and adjust your attitude accordingly on the 14th, 15th or 16th. If you know what you want, job-wise, it will be easier to get it on the 19th, 20th and 21st. Look for good news on the 26th and 27th. Get yourself an ally on the 30th or 31st.

This is a wonderful day to hit the park or playground and strike up conversations with people. There are friends to be made among the other parents there. Encourage the tyke to make new acquaintances, too.

Now is a good time for you to speak up when strangers come calling. Your energy is good enough to make them feel at ease, and you are much likelier to make new friends or other connections.

You'll be better able to comprehend new ideas if you keep your mind open. This will especially be true when it comes to choosing a dinner spot. Filipino is not a cuisine that you're experienced in, so check it out tonight. It's deeply based in Spanish flavors, as you'll see with the spicy arroz valenciana.

Sometimes no matter how hard you try, an item of clothing is not meant to be. So stop thinking about another tailor who can make a certain dress go from A-line to a pencil silhouette -- put it in the donation pile instead.
