7 Winter Workouts that WIll Actually Make You Want to Leave the House

And once you do, you'll get to go back inside. We promise. By Jane Bianchi, REBDOOK.

If being cooped us has made you beyond stir-crazy
This will have you jumping for joy, literally. The first location of Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park opened in Las Vegas in 2004, and since then, more than 30 others have popped up across the country. Each franchise offers multiple trampolines, all of which are connected to form one giant springy surface. But not all the trampolines lie flat on the ground--some are set at angles, allowing you to basically bounce off the walls. Visitors can jump during a SkyRobics cardio class or 3D dodgeball game for optimal giddiness and a major leg-strengthening calorie-burn.

If you're always thinking yoga class could use some caffeine
Doing one thing for an entire hour can get boring, which is why multipart classes are on the rise. At New York City's Om Factory, Yoga Fight Club fuses two disciplines--intensely physical kickboxing and more fluid Vinyasa yoga--to create the perfect combo for releasing aggression, then ending up in a place of Zen. Participants transition from slow-resistance conditioning techniques to vigorous, fast-twitch ones, both of which build speed, strength, and endurance. Now, deep breaths.

If you've considered climbing Kilimanjaro
Whether you're training for serious mountains or looking for a way to boost your upper-body strength, consider visiting an indoor rock-climbing gym like Brooklyn Boulders. The original Brooklyn, NY, location (there's a second outpost in Somerville, MA) has 22,000 square feet of climbing surfaces, and its hip, colorful, urban environment will help you forget that you're working out. Newbies can take beginner's classes, whereas those with a bit more experience can learn how to slackline--which involves sitting, standing, and turning yourself upside down on a tightrope--a routine that improves your balance and conditions your core.

If your type-A tendencies have gotten a little too extreme

One of the best ways to feel like a kid? Roller-skating! At the three Tennessee locations of Skate Center (Brentwood, Rivergate, and Smyrna), there's ample opportunity to do it to pop music. Skaters can make it a girls' night and show off their favorite dance moves while gliding around the rink, preferably on a Friday evening, when belting out your favorite tunes between laps at Karaoke Fun Sk8 is encouraged. Others deem Thursday's Family Fun Nite the awesome new thing that gets them and the kids gliding out of the house.

If you dressed up as Catwoman last Halloween

Channel your inner Schmidt from New Girl and try parkour, offered at Los Angeles's Tempest Freerunning Academy. The street pastime, which rewards creativity and agility, has moved indoors and gone mainstream in the past year, and enthusiasts can sprint, climb, jump, flip, slide, swing, break dance, and more at this 7,000-square-foot gymnastic playground filled with high bars, ramps, blocks, walls, ladders, and padded floors. Do your own thing, or take classes with fun names like Train Hard, Kong Harder, and Goldfish Gangsata to learn wow-worthy moves.

If you're nostalgic for high school sports glory

Don't worry--no one's going to make you run suicides this time around. At 100,000 square feet, Equinox Sports Club in West Los Angeles is nearly four times larger than the average Equinox gym, and is filled with oodles of elaborate amenities. Beyond typical gym equipment, there's racquetball, squash, and a regulation-size basketball court (where high-profile movie stars, directors, producers, and recording artists--basically Hollywood folk--rub shoulders in a private league). Take a cue from them, and follow a sweaty game with some time in a eucalyptus steam room, then chow down on registered dietitian-approved cuisine at Oliver Café, or chill by the fireplace of the sleek and modern lounge.

If spinning has gotten old, fast
Jumping on a mountain bike, riding up a ramp until you're airborne, and landing in a pit of foam chunks should help spice things up. Ray's Indoor Bike Park (with locations in Cleveland, OH, and Milwaukee, WI) is packed with varied terrains and obstacles such as hills, wooden planks, rocks, and logs, but don't worry if you're not super-athletic. Like ski hills, the courses are color-coded to correspond with skill level, from the flat, concrete yellow trail onward. Plus, there's no chance of doing the same old thing yet again--each summer, the park shuts down to remodel the course, so riders keep coming back for more.
