Get Your JLo Glow On

By Milly Almodovar

Our girl Jennifer Lopez always rocks the red carpet. But, it's not just her ass-et hugging attire that keeps us mesmerized-it's her perfect "touch me" skin: clear, dewy and luminous. The man responsible for giving La Lopez her signature glow for more than 10 years, Scott Barnes, gives us the Lo-down on how we mere mortals can duplicate it.

Cosmo For Latinas: How do you create J. Lo's glow? What products do you use, and how can the average Latina do it?

Scott Barnes: I just took what she had and amplified it to create that "lit from within" glow. I wanted the whole world to see what I saw. Cream foundation is a must to achieve perfect highlighting and contouring. I like Bobbi Brown's Foundation Stick ($41, bobbibrowncosmetics.com) to sculpt and highlight your features. Guerlain Terracotta Bronzer ($50, sephora.com) will give you that tawny, sun-kissed look to make you feel like a golden goddess, and Scott Barnes Body Bling will give your body the J. Lo-glow! Use Original Body Bling ($41, scottbarnes.com) to bronze your legs/arms, and highlight your shoulders/décolletage with Platinum Body Bling ($42, scottbarnes.com).

CFL: What are three products that are always in your makeup bag?

SB: Scott Barnes Body Bling, Japanesque eyelash curler ($19, ulta.com) and Naphcon-A eyedrops ($7.97, walmart.com)-they make your eyes look bright, white and rested.

CFL: What's your makeup advice for Latinas?

SB: Use a foundation that is a shade or two lighter than your actual shade to highlight areas of the face you would like to accentuate. For example, your cheek bones, the bridge of the nose ... use a shade or two darker to take away from areas that are too pronounced, like the forehead, jawline and sides of the nose. Always remember: Light highlights and dark takes light away. On all skin tones, I like using lighter foundations with a lot of luminosity to add a glow to the skin.

CFL: What are the big makeup trends you're seeing for spring?

SB: I'm loving the '60s, Marilyn Monroe lashes! To get the look, create a nice "cat" line with a liquid liner, then get individual or strip-for more drama-lashes and work them towards the outside of the outer eye. I love using L'Oreal Voluminous ($8.49, drugstore.com) and Armani Eyes to Kill ($30, nordstrom.com) mascaras to create this look, and Chanel makes a great liquid liner ($34, nordstrom.com).

CFL: Is there one lipstick that you think every Latina should own?

SB: To highlight the lips, Nars makes an amazing gloss called Gold Digger ($26, narscosmetics.com), which I've used on J. Lo.
