Slim Your Face with These Easy Steps

Learn how to expertly contour and highlight your face surgery free with these simple makeup techniques.

Celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Jennifer Lopez use contouring and highlighting techniques to enhance their natural beauty; this is the makeup secret to the high cheekbones and chiseled facial features when they hit the red carpet. With contouring you get to shade the areas that are supposed to recede on your face, which in turn provides a slimmer, sharper look with just a few products.

To master this technique, you'll need to start off with either a cream bronzer or foundation in a shade two or three times darker than your natural skin tone. In order to highlight specific areas, you'll also need a concealer lighter than your complexion. With the right products and these easy steps, you'll be amazed at how well you can enhance your natural features surgery and fuss-free!

Step 1:
Select a concealer that is a few shades lighter than your skin tone; in this tutorial I'm using MAKE UP FOR EVER 5 Camouflage Cream Palette. Apply the concealer to the bridge of your nose with a concealer brush, and then under your eyes straight across to your temples. Apply some concealer on the nose bridge towards the forehead as well, and then apply it to the chin area.

Step 2:
Next, take a cream bronzer like Hourglass Illume Cream-to-Powder Bronzer Duo, and apply it directly under the cheekbones starting at the ear and taking it to the corner of the eye. You can also do this by sucking in your cheeks and applying it to the hollows of your face. Don't forget to shade the forehead and hair line as well. If you want to slim down your nose, take some of the bronzer and apply it to the sides of your nose. Then, blend out any harsh lines with your finger.

Step 3:
Take a clean foundation brush, and blend out the concealer and bronzer. You'll want to blend the latter under the cheekbones in an upward motion instead of downwards. Make sure there are no harsh lines, as you want to look as natural as possible.

Step 4:

Always apply some blush to your cheeks in order to bring everything together. I'm using the blush from the Hourglass duo which dries to a powdery finish.

Step 5:

As a last step, I'm taking Benefit's Watt's Up! face highlighter and applying it to the highest points of the cheek bones and the bridge of my nose. This gives a beautiful sheen to the face and is a perfect finishing touch.
