VIDEO: Celebrities (Trying To) Speak Spanish

Popular figures are realizing more and more that us Latinos make up a large part of their fan base. Whether by accident or with intention, whether they know the language or not, celebrities are speaking (or trying to speak) Spanish as a way of reaching out to their público. And even when the results are more funny than correct, we still applaud them. Check out the hilarious clips below:

Craig Ferguson
The host of "The Late Late Show" attempts to do his monologue speaking only Spanish with hilarious results. Ferguson, a Scottish-born actor and comedian, now an American citizen, appears every weeknight at 12:35 am on CBS.


Robert Gronkowski
The New England Patriots' tight end Robert Gronkowski is being interviewed by ESPN Deportes after his team won this year's Super Bowl. Upon seeing that the reporter translates everything he's saying into Spanish, Gronkowski decides to get in on the fun and speak some español himself. When trying to say "I'm going party," he actually says "Soy fiesta," which literally translates to "I am party." Nice try, Gronkowski.

The Jonas Brothers
The singing siblings appear on Spanish television during a visit to Madrid, where the host of the show attempts to teach them a popular song. The host first has them practice speaking the verses, but when they start singing, it's every man for himself! Míralo:



Vin Diesel
It's the 2009 Latin Billboard Awards, and Vin Diesel has come up to stage to introduce Puerto Rican singer Don Omar. After a minute or so of applause and adulation (fast forward to 0:51), Diesel decides he's going to do the introduction in Spanish. ¿Que?? Yes, that's what we ended up saying after his good-natured attempt at speaking the language. Take a look!



Beyoncé
During an interview with Univision Television promoting her Spanish record, reporter Jack Rico asks the singer to say a couple of words (2:30). She does pretty well, until he asks her to say "irremplazable" ("irreplaceable" en English), the title of her single.



Evanescence
On a segment for "Tourismo MTV", rock band Evanescence rides around Buenos Aires attempting to practice their Spanish pronunciation with some funny results. Kudos for being such good sports!
