VIDEO: Makeup for the Office in 5 Steps

Learn how to create a polished and professional makeup look perfect for work in just a few, quick steps.

By Charleen Gonzalez for Shine Latina

When you're getting ready for work in the morning, you may not have a lot of time to apply your makeup. But, just because you may be rushing out the door, doesn't mean you can't enhance your natural features quickly! You want to remember to go with something natural and neutral for work; not too heavy on the eyeliner or mascara, and maybe a light lip.

I'll show you simple eye makeup that you can do in minutes, plus a quick base that perfects the skin without hard work. This is a five-minute makeup routine that will leave you looking polished and ready for work.

Step 1: Apply a Base
The brushes I'm using are all from Eco Tools. For the base I chose this fantastic new product by Tarte, their BB Tinted Treatment 12 Hour Primer, which triples as a moisturizer, primer and light foundation. If you like a little more coverage, apply your regular foundation on top; I used Tarte's Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Foundation. If you have under eye circles, try Tarte's Maracuja Creaseless Concealer. It hides even the darkest under eye areas. Set with a powder if you get shiny during the day.

Step 2: Eyeshadow
Always apply an eyeshadow primer if you have problems with your shadows creasing. I love Tarte's Creasless 12-HR Smoothing Primer. I'm using L'Oreal's Color Riche shadow palette in I'm Worth It and Good Luck Charm. Take a shimmering vanilla color, and apply it to the inner half of the lids. Then, take a bronze color, and apply it to the outer half of the lids. Finally, take a matte brown color, and apply it to the outer corners of the eye. Blend everything out with a blending brush. Apply a shimmery white color to the brown bone, and smudge some of the matte brown color under the lower lash line as well.

Step 3: Liner and Mascara
Next, apply a powder black eyeshadow to the top lash line or use a black pencil. I love using Tarte's Skinny SmolderEyes Waterproof Liner since it's so creamy and easy to use. Be sure to smudge the line a bit so it isn't so harsh. Then, add a few coats of your favorite mascara. I'm using L'Oreal Power Volume 24 HR Mascara in Black Smoke for a subtle matte look with volume.

Step 4: Blush
Choose a blush with some staying power like Tarte's line of Amazonian Clay 12 HR Blushes. I chose a color called Blissful, which is a warm peach perfect for Latinas with olive skin tones. I used a fan brush from Eco Tools to apply the blush lightly to the apples of cheeks and to the temples.

Step 5: Lip Color
Lastly, you'll want to apply a long-lasting nude or light pink lip. I used Tarte's Glamazon Pure Performance 12 HR Lipstick in Pure, a light nude rose. Then, I topped it with L'Oreal Infallible 8 HR Gloss in Petal for some added shine.
