Dry shampoo

As a Latina with frizzy and thick wavy hair, I have to constantly battle the elements in order to keep my locks in check. I'll show you how the right products will help you transform your hair into a luscious and frizz-free mane. For starters, try not washing it everyday. Why? Your hair has oils that work to keep it naturally conditioned and hydrated. Every time you wash your hair, you strip it of its natural oils, leaving it less hydrated than before and causing potential frizz. Instead, opt for washing your hair every other day, or in my case, every two days. In between hair washings I use Oscar Blandi Pronto Invisible Dry Shampoo Spray, which sprays clear and cleanses the hair and scalp, as well as removes excess oil build up, and adds volume to the hair.

No Frizz shampoo, conditioner and leave-in conditioner

Finding a good shampoo or conditioner that will tackle frizz is not an easy task, but with Living Proof's line of No Frizz hair products it's a breeze! I absolutely love using the No Frizz shampoo and conditioner to block out humidity without weighing the hair down, no matter if it's curly or straight. The shampoo and conditioner are also free of sulfates and silicone. This product keeps your hair feeling conditioned and clean longer, so you don't have to wash it as often. I follow the shampoo and conditioner with No Frizz Leave in Conditioner which helps to protect your hair from the sun and the heat of styling tools besides, of course, keeping your hair smooth and frizz-free.

A smooth blow dry

One product I've been using that leaves my hair looking incredible after a blow out is Shu Uemura's Essence Absolue Nourishing Oil-In-Cream. This luxurious product re-balances the moisture level of dry hair, all the while blocking out humidity and keeping the hair smooth. The Camellia oil adds a soft and feminine fragrance to the hair, and a little of the cream goes a long way. I apply it after towel-drying the hair, and then I blow dry to lock in the product. I promise; you will feel a difference in your hair after the first use!

Pin-straight and shiny looking hair

For days when I don't feel like blow-drying and just use a hair straightener, I like to prep my hair for styling with Keratin Complex Straight Day Spray (Sold at Ulta & KeratinComplex.com). You can use this spray on either wet or dry hair. I prefer using it on damp hair and then wait for it to air dry, followed by the hair straightener tool. A great humidity blocker, this spray leaves my hair silky smooth and pin-straight. To give my tresses an added shine, I use Umberto Roman Oil Serum, especially at the ends of my hair which tend to be dry. This product can also be used on damp hair as a styling product, and it's ultra moisturizing.

Anti-humidity hair spray

I always finish my hair routine with Garnier Fructise Style Anti-Humidity Hairspray. This hairspray leaves a flexible hold on your hairstyle while blocking out humidity. I've been using this product for years, and it has never let me down. Plus, at under $5 this is one inexpensive lifesaver!
