We love shopping. No, make that we freaking love shopping. So when someone gives us an excuse to do more of it, well, we won't say no.

And according to new research, shopping makes you feel young.

After interviewing people in their late 80s, their family members and their caregivers, a researcher at Oregon State University found that old age seems to officially begin when you...stop shopping. The study showed that when older people maintain the ability to shop for themselves, and perform other tasks on their own, they are less likely to be viewed and treated as "old."

While the study specifically looked at grocery shopping, not clothes shopping, we'd like to think that choosing a new cute dress for your 90th birthday party is a way bigger accomplishment than simply being able to pick up some milk on your way home from bridge. Or at least, that's what we'll be telling ourselves every time we head to the mall from now on-after all, we've gotta instill that regular shopping habit while we're still young, right?
