3 Unforgettable Televised Celebrity Weddings

Reality stars have a tendency to make it official on TV, and it's hard to deny that swapping vows on the small screen tends to deliver a boost in visibility and ratings (not to mention a free wedding -- though that part is never confirmed or denied). Here, a few of our favorite televised weddings and all the juicy details.

Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

It didn't come as a surprise when Kim Kardashian (following the example of her younger sister Khloe and husband Lamar Odom) decided to wed Kris Humphries in front of the cameras. Kim's Fairytale Wedding: A Kardashian Event aired in October 2011, and between the wedding and the couple's divorce 72 days later, rumors about the legitimacy of the relationship -- to say nothing of the enormous financial windfall Kim supposedly made off wedding-related deals -- topped headlines everywhere.

Honeymoon like a celeb

Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey
Jessica Simpson was rumored to be a virgin when she and Nick Lachey got married on VH1's All Access Celebrity Weddings in 2003, and that was just the start of the couple's prenuptial fame. Simpson's album, In This Skin (which is full of references to Nick and her prewedding virginity), was released just in time for the wedding. Following their big day on VH1, the couple went on to star in MTV's wildly popular Newlyweds (we all remember Simpson's "Chicken of the Sea" comment). Of course, their highly public life didn't do the couple any favors; when they eventually split in 2005, Lachey admitted to David Letterman that starring in Newlyweds contributed to their divorce.

Most expensive celebrity weddings

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
Speidi's wedding saga is a long and, frankly, ridiculous one. First, Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt faked an elopement on a beach in 2008. Then, they had a big (official) ceremony during the 2009 season finale episode of The Hills. The couple's two weddings, publicly volatile relationship and seemingly inevitable divorce looked like desperate ploys for attention. Those suspicions were confirmed when The Daily Beast later reported that the two were broke and had faked their divorce for publicity. As a final attempt to get back in the spotlight, Heidi and Spencer renewed their vows in November 2010.
