With so many over-the-top proposal stories surfacing lately (cough, Kim and Kanye, cough), we'd expect the recently-engaged Kelly Rowland to have a tale for the record books. To our surprise, the charming singer's betrothal was a bit more unconventional and understated than we expected!

At an appearance earlier today on The Queen Latifah Show, the former Destiny's Child member finally confirmed her engagement to her longtime (and very hush-hush) boyfriend and manager, Tim Witherspoon, after a little poking and prodding from the show's host.

"Did he put a ring on it, or did he put a ring on it?" Latifah begged of her guest.

Bashfully, Rowland responded, "He put a ring on it," and flashed her stunning engagement ring, which looks like a cushion-cut diamond with a thin pavé halo.

The X Factor judge admitted that they kept the engagement quiet for some time. But the best revelation had to be her proposal story: Tim asked his girlfriend to marry him over Skype! The busy pair were in separate locations (Rowland was in Bulgaria) and were chatting very late at night.

"It was so late, and I remember we were honestly just staring at each other, and he asked me," Rowland divulged. "And it was just as simple to say yes. I was like I've got my best friend, I've got my best friend to ride through life with."

We kind of love how off-the-cuff the moment turned out to be-and how on-trend it was with all of the BuzzFeed-driven and Pinterest-planned proposals that have surfaced lately. Clearly, technology is playing a larger and larger role in proposals and weddings (We're even throwing our own, crowd-sourced million dollar wedding through Facebook!).

It's no wonder Kelly looked extra happy in all of her cameos in longtime friend Beyoncé's new surprise visual album. Best of luck to Rowland, we can't wait for more wedding details to trickle in! (It should come as no surprise that we're gunning for Blue Ivy as flower girl).
