We like to think we can give some pretty smart advice here at Smitten (remember when Anna brought us Occam's razor...for the heart?), but today, I'm turning it over to some women whose brains are on another level. As in, a level above 98% of us. They should be able to figure out the dating scene, right?

Last night, it took me (and five of my friends) a solid half hour to figure out how to get the TV and cable to work (boo, we missed the first ten minutes of the Girls premiere), so it's safe to say I'm probably not a genius. Luckily, the Seattle Times recently talked to some of the smartest women in the world--Mensa members!--and got their tips for dating. The tips are coming from their world of being smarter than most men around them, but I think we of slightly less than superhuman intelligence can benefit from the wisdom of these genius ladies.

1. Be proud of your strengths but don't throw them in guys' faces.
Mensa member Michelle Rakshys says, "I never downplay my intelligence, but I've never won a fight by saying, 'Which one of us is in Mensa?'" Ha! She has more restraint that I would.

2. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Rakshys says guys don't necessarily think she's smart when they see her tattoos and hear her curse. I bet they figure it out soon though. The same principle applies to guys. Don't judge one based on something superficial.

3. Don't play dumb.
We've already talked about how men really do like smart women, and Mensa member Roxanne Vera agrees.

4. Give guys a chance.
Go beyond a first date if it's a little awkward. According to Rakshys, it can take a few dates for smart people to get over their jitters. So if you like a guy but just aren't sure if you're clicking, give him a little time to prove himself.

5. Find someone compatible.
Vera recalled a date in her teenage years where her date just didn't share her views on Romeo and Juliet, which made her realize she needed to find guys similar to her. Remember, relationship experts agree that compatibility is key for lasting love.

What do you think of these dating tips from smarty pants ladies? Do you secretly want to take the Mensa test just in case? Um, you should. Men make up 2/3 of the members. Bring it, ladies!
