Since same-sex marriage in Britain has been legalized, Elton and his longtime partner David Furnish (who have been in a British Civil Partnership together since 2008) have made plans to get married in England in May.

"We'll do it very quietly," Elton said in an interview on the Today show. "But we will do it and it will be a joyous occasion and we will have our children [Zachary and Elijah]… For this legislation to come through is joyous, and we should celebrate it. We shouldn't just say, 'Oh, well we have a civil partnership. We're not going to bother to get married.' We will get married."
