5 New Wedding Dress Trends to Love

Just when you thought brides were getting riskier, along come the bridal runway shows reinforcing the idea that when it comes to the big day, most women stick to tradition. But this season (that would be fall 2014), there are some new ideas brewing. For instance, remember how after the Duchess of Cambridge walked down the aisle in a long-sleeved lace Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress, everyone was covering their arms? Well, now labels including Carolina Herrera, Oscar de la Renta, and Marchesa are suggesting a little more freedom of movement with cap sleeves. And though there's always been a lot of talk about brides choosing to wear pink, the shocking shade offered by Vera Wang is nothing short of gutsy, and nearly every designer introduced a version of gray, or "smoke," as it's being referred to, as the new alternative to white. Also, consider hemlines. Herrera showed only tea-length dresses, reflecting a new playfulness among the newly married. Because when it comes to a wedding, kicking up your heels is always in fashion.
