A Cappella Group's A-Ca-Awesome Valentine's Day Stunt

Are you afraid of love? How about a cappella groups? Stuart Edge, a video prankster, joined forces with Vocal Point, an a cappella group from Brigham Young University, that appeared on the reality competition show “The Sing-Off,” to surprise and serenade unsuspecting female students at the Utah college for Valentine’s Day. The reactions weren't always romantic.

Dressed in coordinating skinny ties, the five young men snuck up on women all across campus and broke out into song, crooning classics like “Only Fools Rush In” and “Can’t Take My Eyes off of You.” (Of course, “Just the Way You Are” also made the cut.) In exchange for getting rhythmically rattled, those lucky ladies who withstood the musical attention recieved single roses from the group.

Of course, luck isn't everything. According to Edge, the group targeted those students who looked like they needed a pitch perfect pick-me-up. “Sometimes you’re guided to people that were maybe having a bad day and what you say or do helps them have a better one. That’s why I love doing these types of videos,” Edge tells Yahoo Shine.

The video, which was posted to YouTube on Feb. 10 and already has about 275,000 views, shows women having a variety of reactions to the sudden over-the-top, sentimental encounter from strangers. Some hid their faces, others blushed (a deep red — perfect coloring for the holiday), a few screamed, many broke out in nervous laughing fits, but for the most part, their hearts melted. Well, maybe not the one who ran away.
