Adam Levine: Ridiculous Man

Poor Adam Levine. He's pretty, rich, business-minded and not at all rock and roll. There's no tribal tattoo on the planet that can obscure the fact that he writes love songs for mom's car when she picking you up from the train. But look, he's good at it. He's also good at coaching reality show competitions and translating his pop star status into lucrative cross-branding opportunities. But Levine wants more. He wants to be taken seriously.

That's a tall order from a rock star who tweets about his Macy's fragrance. But hey, that is why Adam Levine is a ridiculous man. Here are more reasons he's hard to take seriously:

Because before he had his own fragrance he was making fun of people who did. Remember when he called celebrity perfumes a sin "punishable by death"?

Because he has an interior design philosophy: "Furnishing a home is no different than going into the studio and making music," Levine told Architectural Digest. "You want to make sure you've pared down all the extra details so that in the end, every stitch has a context uniquely yours."

Because he hangs a framed photo of Dr. Dre and Snoop above his Maharam mohair velvet couch to remind him of his musical roots.

Because his music roots are in French Woods, a Catskills musical summer camp. That's where he founded Maroon 5. That's also where I founded the Turkey Know-Hows, a Toad the Wet Sprocket cover band. Yeah I went there too and now look at me.

Because he worked on "Judging Amy " before he got his big break. He was a writer's assistant for that show with Tyne Daly and the woman with curly hair who isn't the Noxema girl.

Because he still has a roommate.
Helives with hisbest friend, a writer named Gene Hong. It's not that he can't afford to live alone, but he may not be ready yet.

Because he's got the Sanskrit word "tapas" inked on his chest . "The meaning is a little bit loose and can get misinterpreted, but when applied to talking about yoga, it has to do with my fire or determination for the practice," he told Inked magazine. "It's a personal thing." Know what's not a personal thing? Small shared appetizer plates or "tapas."

Because he's always shirtless.

Because he kind of looks like Seth Green.

Because he wears jewelry that alludes to his world travels
: "I was in Japan and I got this necklace," he told Inked magazine. "I'm not sure why I got it-I think I was bored."

Because he really, really, really wants you to know about his yoga practice.
"At any Maroon 5 concert, you'll see a room backstage marked yoga," Levine told Details Magazine, in an article which also featured images of his excellent tree pose.

Because even Mick Jagger thinks the song "Moves Like Jagger" is kind of silly.
