An Adorable, Romantic Proposal At...Comic-Con?

Comic-Con is mecca for fans of everything from Tomb Raider to Doctor Who, but this year, after a sweet surprise proposal, it showed us its softer and-dare we say it?-romantic side as it also became an amazing place to get engaged. David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson, co-stars of cult-hit The X-Files were just wrapping up a Comic-Con reunion panel on Oct. 13, when 30-year-old Michael Acuna was chosen to ask the last question.

And total cuteness overload ensued.

Acuna, who told reporters he had been engagement ring-shopping for a while without his girlfriend's knowledge, had flashed the diamond ring to staffers at the event to show them what he had been planning so he could get in and ask his big question.

After being told to "make it a good one" by an audience member, Acuna began his question: "What I got from the show was how important it is to have a really good partner-someone who challenges what you think, sometimes thinks the complete opposite, sometimes thinks the way you do, and will always support you. So with that, I actually have a request and a question. The request is if I could have your blessing, and the question actually is to my girlfriend." As the crowd predictably went wild, Acuna finished up with, "Will you do the honor of marrying me?"

After that, is anyone surprised she said yes?

Acuna's proposal is a great example of how something that seems kooky, crazy, or weird can actually be crazy-romantic. Remember the groom who secretly planned his fiancée's wedding off of her Pinterest board? After all Acuna's new fiancée, Morgan Childs is such a super-fan that she has an X-Files tribute tattoo, so there's no doubt in our mind that she preferred this proposal to, say, a more traditional dinner at a fancy restaurant. The moral of this story? The most romantic things are the things that make you-and not anyone else-happy.

So what will the Acuna-Childs wedding look like? We suggest invitations like these, designed to look like top-secret manila folders to give their guests the info.
