After Everything...3 Things Jennifer Lopez Can Teach Us About Love

By Alex Rock, BounceBack.com Editorial Staff

People often wonder about the qualities possessed by those who seem forever in - and forever out - of love, versus, let's say, those whose relationship status remains steadily single or part of a couple. I'm not sure which category I fall into, yet, but I'm pretty sure we can all agree that Jennifer Lopez falls into the former: JLo is addicted to love.

Over the years, we've watched her love life up-close on the center of our TV screen and we've seen it unravel into a tabloid frenzy more than once. Some people would argue that this type of celebrity observance and/or entertainment is useless, but we'd like to point out a few things Jennifer Lopez can remind us about love:

1. Love is Blind

If we take a look at JLo's partners over the past decade - Ohani Noah, P.Diddy (that is still his name, right?), Chris Judd, Ben Affleck, Marc Anthony - it's clear that JLo doesn't have a "type" in the traditional sense. JLo falls in love, and when she does, she falls hard. None of the men listed above have any apparent common quality except for their celebrity status and penchant for beautiful women (after all, JLo has always been one of the world's most gorgeous entertainers since she stepped foot on the scene). So, what does JLo's blind love teach us? It teaches us that we can't choose who we'll fall in love with. Love comes in many different forms, and it's important to keep ourselves open to different people and recognize that every person we enter a relationship with will offer something different than the last.

2. Love "Don't Cost a Thing"

JLo has established herself as one of the most lucrative brands in the entertainment industry; between her movies, music, countless fashion and perfume lines - not to mention American Idol - she seems to have it all, and seems as though she'd have the power and resources to make any relationship or marriage last. She can certainly afford any of the costliest therapists in the world. And with this, JLo reminds us that although money can deeply affect our love lives, it simply can't mend a broken relationship. Even the richest people struggle with the types of relationship issues we can relate to - ones we sometimes can't resolve.

3. Love Inspires

From the jaw-dropping green Armani dress with the plunging neckline to the elegant one-shouldered Valentino she wore to the Oscars a few years ago, JLo's sense of style has evolved alongside her love life. But more than fashion, her choices in movie roles and music have seemed to revolve around the state of her love life as well: while with P. Diddy, she produced sexy songs like Waiting for Tonight; with Ben Affleck, she acted in the less-than critically-acclaimed Gigli; while with her music mogul husband Marc Anthony, she focused on brand equity, eventually landing millions to co-host American Idol. Overall, JLo shows us that love will always change and inspire us.

In a recent Vanity Fair interview, JLo explained that even though she's reaching yet another end point in love, she still has high hopes: "I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love…It's still my biggest dream. It's still my biggest dream."

Depending on how you measure success in love, you might deem JLo a failure; after all, her recent split from Marc Anthony marks her third divorce and the end of yet another powerhouse celebrity couple. Either way, we believe it's safe to say that JLo probably knows a thing or two about love after a decade of searching tirelessly for it. What do you think?
