We'll consider this a precursor to their engagement photos. On-again off-again musical power couple Katy Perry and John Mayer recorded the song "Who You Love" together for Mayer's newest studio album, Paradise Valley, over the summer, and the brand-new cover art for the single shows that who they love is each other.

The powerful, black-and-white photograph of the pair, shot by photographer Mario Sorrenti, is striking in its simplicity and lets their obvious affection for one another shine.

Mayer posted the photo to his Tumblr, along with the caption, "I'm excited to give you the first look at the single artwork for "Who You Love," shot by the great Mario Sorrenti. Get it at the iTunes Store, and then head over to Vanity Fair to see exclusive photos from the shoot. And yes, we look like this at home pretty much all the time."

Vanity Fair also shared the image, along with exclusive snaps from the rest of the photo shoot.

In August, Mayer discussed the love song, which had served as a PSA that the couple, who have been dating intermittently since August 2012, was back together. He told the AP that he hoped listeners would look past the singers' celebrity status. "If the music is framed correctly and quality," he said. "And if it's right and the soul is there, it would be the highest compliment to the record if somebody said or people said, 'I don't even think about it being [about] a relationship, I just hear it as a great song.'"

The beautiful song has been out since August, and the lyrics certainly achieve what Mayer was going for. His part includes words like, "My girl, she ain't the one that I saw coming / Sometimes I don't know which way to go / And I tried to run before but I'm not running anymore." During her section, Perry sings, "My boy he ain't the one that I saw coming / And some have said his heart's too hard to hold / And it takes a little time / But you should see him when he shines."

We predicted an imminent engagement for the tempestuous twosome back in October. That month, Perry confessed to W that, "I actually am dating my crush. I had a crush on him for a long time." Us Weekly, Perry may get to tie down her hunky boyfriend soon. "Everyone knows it's just a question of when John will propose," a source told the magazine. Even though she attended last week's AMAs solo, we're holding to our prediction.

Their photo shoot proved that their engagement photos, wedding photos, and pretty much everything else related to their wedding (pending an engagement, of course) will be hot.
